Midland, Texas isn’t famous for much other than the Permian Basin oil reserves and excellent Mexican food. But the town where I was born and raised was also the home of the innovative and wild Chaparral cars. I remember as a kid, being fascinated by the white Jim Hall machines. The cars now reside in a museum but every now and then Jim, the Texan that he is, would stop by and take the 2D out for a spin on public roads. Cops just smiled as he rolled by in that straight-piped one of one 1960's race car.

I wanted to write something about my former employer, DOW Chemical, having their homebase in Midland, but its the other Midland, the one in Michigan...:p.....
Beautiful cars tho. Does he still drive them to this day?

Not sure. As far as I know, the 2D is the only one that gets street driven because it has plates, wipers, a roof, lights things like that. The other cars are all kept in working condition and occasionally head to Goodwood! Otherwise they make very entertaining laps around the museum campus.
